## What does the Business area access dropdown do? The **Business area access** dropdown lets you grant contract access to users based on their business area within your organisation. Select one or more business areas, and any users assigned to those areas who also have access to at least one associated group company will automatically gain access to the contract.
## What level of access do Business area access users receive? Users added through **Business area access** can view and edit the contract by default. However, if their user roles include permission restrictions, their access may be limited.
## How do I tag a contract with departments without granting access? To tag the contract with specific departments for organisational purposes without granting department members access, use the **Business area** field in the contract details step. **Note:** Only users who belong to a selected business area **and** have access to at least one associated group company will gain access to the contract.
