Creating Activities in the Annual Wheel

Creating activities in the Annual Wheel allows you to plan recurring work. These activities automatically generate tasks at the specified frequency — so nothing is forgotten.

How to Create an Activity

An Activity is a recurring compliance task — such as an annual policy review — that automatically generates tasks on a set schedule. Use this guide to set one up in minutes.

  • Navigate to the Activities module and click Create Activity.
  • Fill in the activity details:
    • Title — A clear name for the activity (e.g. Annual policy review)
    • Frequency — How often tasks should recur (e.g. yearly, twice per year)
    • Responsible user — The person who oversees task generation
    • Task performer (optional) — The person assigned to complete each task
    • Month(s) — When tasks should be generated each cycle
    • Compliance areas — Applicable frameworks such as GDPR or NIS2
    • Business area / tags — For categorisation and filtering
    • Description or guidance text — Instructions or context for the task performer
  • Review your settings and click Save.

What Happens Next?

Once saved, the system automatically generates tasks according to your configured schedule. Tasks appear in the Task module and are linked back to their originating activity, making it easy to track progress and accountability.

Advanced Setup Options

  • Create from a template — Start with a pre-built activity structure instead of building from scratch
  • Link a task approver — Assign a reviewer who must sign off on completed tasks before they are marked as done
  • Require documentation upload — Make it mandatory for the task performer to attach evidence or supporting documents when completing a task
  • Add a relation — Link this activity to a related policy, vendor, or data processing activity for cross-module traceability
