Changing Annual Wheel Deadlines and Cleaning Up Duplicate Tasks

Can deadlines from the annual wheel be changed?

Yes. When an activity is created from the year wheel, the deadline cannot be changed on the task itself because it is calculated from the underlying template. To change the deadline, update the year wheel template instead.

How do I change the deadline?

  1. Open the year wheel template behind the activity.
  2. Change the deadline there.
  3. Save the update.

This will also update the deadline for future tasks created from that template.

What if the task already has the correct date for next year?

If the task is already set for the correct future date, one option is to leave the overdue task as it is until it is resolved.

Why can duplicate tasks appear in the year wheel?

Duplicate tasks can appear when an activity has overdue, ongoing, or done tasks. When the activity is edited, those tasks are not removed to preserve historic data. If overdue task entries are deleted, they are removed from the year wheel as well.

How can duplicate monthly tasks be cleaned up?

  1. Remove the duplicate task entries for the affected months.
  2. Leave one task for each month.
  3. Keep the planned task so the year wheel reflects the correct monthly recurrence.

Where can I find guidance on updating an activity with underlying tasks?

A guide is available here: https://help.dotlegal.com/en/knowledge-base/how-to-update-an-activity-with-underlying-tasks

What happens after the template is corrected?

Once the duplicate or outdated tasks are cleaned up, the year wheel should show the activity only once per month, and future tasks should follow the updated deadline automatically.
