Custom Input Fields for Legal Entities
Define the fields that capture the information your organisation needs on each legal entity.
Input fields are the building blocks of legal entity templates. Before you build a template, set up the fields you want it to hold. Legal entity input fields work the same way as the input fields for contracts and assets.
Custom fields require the Templates and Custom Fields add-on.
Standard fields and custom fields
- Standard fields are predefined in the platform and have a fixed meaning. They are on their own tab, so you can see every field in one place.
- Custom fields are fields you create yourself and give your own meaning.
Create a custom field
- Go to Settings and open the input fields for legal entities.
- Select Create input field.
- Enter a name and, optionally, a description. The description is shown as a tooltip next to the field.
- Choose the input type and save.
The input types include:
- Text field and Multiline text field for free text
- Dropdown - Single select and Dropdown - Multiple select for a predefined list of options
- Date
- Number and Amount
- Check box for a yes/no choice
Add the field to a template
- Go to Settings > Legal entity templates and open the template.
- Go to the step where the field belongs.
- Select Add field, pick your field and drag it into place.
A custom field can be used in as many templates as you like. To make it required, see Create and Use Legal Entity Templates.
