Decide how to handle a risk

Once a risk is assessed you choose to accept it, avoid it, or mitigate it with a plan.

Assessing a risk is only half the work. Every assessed risk needs a decision, and accepting a risk is a legitimate decision as long as it is recorded as one.

  1. Open the risk area and go to the Operational overview.
  2. Filter on "over appetite = yes" to see the risks that need a decision first.

  3. Open the risk you want to handle.
  4. Select the three dots to the right from the risk scenario you want to handle
  5. Choose one of the three options:
    • Accept to live with the risk as it stands.
    • Avoid to stop the activity that creates the risk.
    • Mitigate to reduce the risk with an action plan.

  6. Write the reasoning behind the choice.

  7. Click Save.
