Creating and Managing a Legal Entity

Legal entities represent your external partners — such as vendors, customers, data processors or (internal) group companies. You document them centrally to maintain consistency across your compliance work.

Creating a Legal Entity

  • Go to Legal Entities in the menu
  • Click Create Legal Entity
  • Enter:
    Name (required)
    Country (required)

  • If you have the CVR add-on enabled (DK only), you can also:
    • Search using CVR number or company name
    • Auto-fill details like address and website

After Creation

Once created, you enter the entity flow:

  • Register address and tax info
  • Add a description
  • Set approval status (approved / pending)
  • Define the type (vendor, customer, processor, sub-processor)

Deleting a Legal Entity

A legal entity that is still in use cannot be deleted. When you try, the platform now lists everything it is attached to — assets, processing activities and contracts — grouped by type and with the counts, so you can see exactly what needs resolving first. Each item links straight to the record, so you can work through them one by one.

If you want to keep the company and its history instead, deactivate it. A deactivated company cannot be selected going forward, but nothing is lost.

Entity Types

The type you give a legal entity is what lets you tell your third-party relationships apart later. Alongside vendor, customer, processor and sub-processor, Service Provider is available for categorising suppliers that deliver a service to you.
